A check is an authorization
An XRP check authorizes its named recipient to claim funds. Creating one does not set aside the payment amount, so the recipient may be unable to cash it if the sender later has too little available XRP. The check object has a reserve requirement.
Write an XRP check
Connect the sender and open Checks. Write a check and Manage a check are visible on one page, without operation tabs. Manage a check has one Check ID field and separate Cash check and Cancel check review actions.
Fill in Pay to with the recipient’s classic address and Up to with the maximum XRP amount on the Check document. Add a public memo if useful.
Open Destination tag & invoice reference and include a destination tag when the recipient requires one.
Optionally choose an Expiration in your local time.
Select Review check. The review shows the allowance under SendMax. Verify the recipient and maximum before approving.
After validation, refresh and open the Check in Your checkbook. Its document shows the full issuer, recipient, maximum and 64-character Check ID. Share the ID and network with the recipient.
Tell the recipient what to expect
Share the network, Check ID, amount, and any expiration deadline. The recipient must connect the specific account named on the check to cash it. A different account cannot collect merely by knowing the ID.
An unused check may remain on the ledger until cashed or cancelled. Setting an expiration does not by itself remove the ledger object. Your checkbook combines current ledger objects with loaded creation, cashing and cancellation transactions. Load earlier check history to retrieve more records. A creation record alone is marked Current status unknown; it is not proof of an open or paid Check. The maximum is the allowance, not a receipt. Actual cashing proceeds are shown only from successful validated delivered_amount metadata. Memos are public text and never interpreted as code.
